RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Transportation’s Division of Aviation introduced Monday the state has obtained a $500,000 Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies grant to analysis methods to enhance aviation in western North Carolina.

The ARISE grant, funded partly by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Legislation, can pay for analysis to determine mandatory upgrades at basic aviation airports in Appalachian counties.
